MANAGING DIRECTOR + PATENT AGENT + RESEARCHER
Dominic DeMarco is the Managing Director of DeMarcoIP. He is a registered patent agent (#49,015) with a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia. He has been working as a patent researcher since 1997, and has performed and reviewed thousands of searches across a full range of mechanical, medical, semiconductor, electrical, and chemical art areas.
Dominic was the first Engineer to serve on the Board of Directors of the Patent Information Users Group (“PIUG”) which is the international society for patent information. He is currently a lead instructor for the PIUG Patent Searching Fundamentals course, the PIUG Freedom-to-Operate course, has taught patent search classes on behalf of the World Intellectual Property Organization ("WIPO"), and is an invited speaker at patent conferences around the world. Dominic is also a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (“AIPLA”) and an active reviewer for the Elsevier Journal "World Patent Information".
In 2019, Dominic was awarded certification as a Qualified Patent Information Professional ("QPIP") by the European governing body for the search industry. Less than fifty patent information professionals in the United States have received this certification.
